WHAT AN EVENT!!
The 2022 DNF Ultra was everything it promised and more!
The weather was great (although our marquee holding volunteers probably would have liked a little less wind, and our runners a little less sun...), the coffee was delicious and the vibes were out of this world.
From the pre-event warm up from the talented Michelle, to the huge cheers as we got down to our final 2 runners, it was just spectacular.
The on course support, the camaraderie between runners, the banter between clubs and the incredible volunteer team made the day as epic as we hoped.
Not to mention the fundraising! The final tally is still being determined, but at last count we had ticked over $1700!
TRUCKER HATS ARE STILL AVAILABLE!
If you want to look the part, make sure you order a limited edition trucker hat! Only $20, with proceeds going to the Northern Health Foundation Cancer Services and Olivia Newton John Cancer Research and Wellness Centre.
Check out the results table to see how everyone went. Maybe you can use this to set a goal for next year!
Runners complete a 1.6km loop at Hawkstowe Park, South Morang. They have a set time to complete their lap, with all runners beginning each lap together. The time reduces, the number of runners reduces and the excitement builds as the event goes on!
Runners may chose to stop, or may get timed out, but the event keeps going until there is only one runner left!
The event will begin at 8am, with the first lap. The second lap begins at 8.15am, with participants required to be lining up in the start chute 30 seconds prior to the lap beginning (therefore giving 14.5 minutes to complete the first lap).
After 4 laps, the allocated time drops by one minute. This pattern continues until lap 29, which is an 8min limit. The time remains at 8mins until lap 40. If there are still 2 or more runners competing at this point, the time allocation reduces by one minute per lap.
The event ends when only one runner completes the lap in the allocated time.
The event is held at Hawkstowe Park in South Morang. Limited parking is available at Red Gum Picnic Area, which is a short walk to the event start line.
A unique event needs unique 'medals'. You will receive a special memento to commemorate your participation.
The event is held as a fundraiser for the Northern Health Foundation Cancer Services Department, a cause close to the heart of the Lalor Running Club community. Click on the link here to donate: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/LRC-support-NHF
Funds are also being shared with Olivia Newton John Cancer Research and Wellness Centre, in honour of Michelle from Diamond Creek Runners.
The event is fully volunteer run and supported by donations and sponsorship. Please contact Lalor Running Club at info@lalorrunningclub.com.au or by using the 'Contact Us' form if you have goods or services to donate.
There is one aid station, situated at the start/finish area. This is fully stocked with Tailwind Nutrition, fruit, lollies and water (plus some special treats if you're lucky!)
